What could be the cause of a tie rod end that breaks during installation?

Am I installing the tie rod the wrong way?

The tie-rod end could be a defective part for sure. However it is also possible that you put too much torque on it while you were tightening the nut. You should take it back and have them replace it with a new one and look in your repair manaul to get the reccommended torque.

Over tightening or cross threading are culprits. Tie rods are usually tested thoroughly by the manufacturer, make sure that you take care with the threads, and don't force anything.

If your buyin from advanced auto thats your problem. Other than that there is no reason why it should break. Take a look at the other side to see if its going correctly. keeping the tires in line is most important because it will save your tires. make sure its spun out as far as the old one

Excessive force could cause a tie rod end to bread during installation. This could be because you are installing it the wrong way. Follow the directions for best results.
