Where is the horn relay located in a 91 explorer?

You'll find it on the drivers side. Below the instrument cluster on the drivers side kick panel (somewhere close to where your knee will be) you 'll find the fuse panel. Remove the cover and you will see the fuses and the relays will be behind them.

Your car manual will have a circuit diagram of all the electricals and this will include the horn and the relay. Sometimes it will be written, otherwise it will have the standard relay symbol. Your headlamps and other electrical stuff may also have relays, so make sure you choose wisely!

Is your car still in the warranty period? If you change the relays or the fuses it will void most electrical warranties on your car. I wanted to put higher wattage lamps on my car and the dealer told me this fact - not sure about the horn relays though.  add a comment

You're right Rejoice - warranty is void, but only if you put an extra or non-standard relay of a different rating. if you replace it with a standard relay the warranty will still hold good.  add a comment
