You will find the hard drive in the middle of the tower which is accessible from any side of the computer casing. The size of the hard drive is 3.5'' and enclosed in X shaped enclosure. The hard drive is connected with SATA or ATA cable and a power cable which supplies power to it.

In a tower the hard drive is usually mounted on the front of the case, if it isn't there then it should be in a slot under the CD drive.

The Hard drive will be connected to the motherboard via the IDE cable on older systems or the SATA cable on more recent computers. Follow the cable to find it.
