The Ashkenazi Jews are actually descendents of the medieval Jewish Community. They come from Rhine and Alsace of Germany. Ashkenazi actually means "German Jews" in translation. Most traveled from Poland, Russia, and Eastern Europe.

Ashkenazi Jews derive from Eastern Europe. These Jews typically resided in states that have made up the former Sovient Union. After the creation of Israel in 1948 and the occupation that followed, many Ashkenazi Jews settled to Israel.

Ashkenazi Jews come from a region in Germany around the Rhine River. Ashkenaz in medieval Hebrew was the name for Germany and this is where they got their name.
