Where did the American Indians originate from?

It is believed that Native Americans came from Asia and that they crossed a land bridge from Siberia across the Bering Sound into Alaska during the last ice age. Another theory claims some came from India. They were named Indian by Christopher Columbus but the term is no longer correct. Native American is proper and preferred by the culture.

This is the subject of debate, some say they come from Asian and European stock. Others say from the Mid-East, yet others say they are thier own race.
