Your local public library is a great resource. Most libraries offer books on cd, some may have the accompanying print text as well. These audio books are often read by the author or celebrity voices and can run many hours in length. Normally libraries loan these items without charge, but there may be a small fee at some institutions.

There are lots of audio book rental websites where you sign up and pay a fee, sort of like a NetFlix arrangement. Your choices are mailed to you, then you return them when finished. A sweet deal for those who prefer audio books.

There is no need to waste money renting audio books. Most public libraries have a large selection of audio books for loan. However, if you are determined to rent, a good website is Simply Audiobooks. They have a selection of books for rent, and even some books available for free download to your computer.

You can borrow audio books at the local library or you can purchase them. There are audio book rental clubs that are much cheaper than purchasing them, and can be found on cassette or DVD, or even download on your mp3 player. Download and postal companies include Simply Audiobooks, BooksFree, and Jiggerbug, to name a few.

There are several websites that offer a subscription rental arrangements much like the Netflix system. The books are mailed to you; you return then when finished. Some larger cities/urban areas have retail stores that specialize in rentals for a fee or swap. The public library is an excellent source of audio books.
