A copy of your federal tax return can be obtained from the IRS for a fee. An exact copy of your return including all attachments can be obtained by filing Form 4506 and enclosing a $57. 00 fee (in 2009). Allow 60 days for delivery.

You can check with your tax preparer. Most of them will keep your copies on their computer for years as it makes doing your return easier. However, if you did your own return, I do not think you can get a copy from the IRS. You probably can get your W2 from your employer and start there.

You can request a copy of your tax return from the IRS. Use their website or locate the address for the request in a tax form completion booklet such as the 1040 instructions. If you had your taxes prepared by a professional, they should be able to supply you with a copy as well.

To get the exact copy of your previous IRS returns, you will need to fill the form 4506 and mail it to the IRS. You can get copies of up to past six years. you will have to pay $57. 00 per year.

Your first attempt should be to get a copy from your professional preparer, or the website on which you prepared your return. If that is not possible, for a fee the IRS will send you a copy. Request a copy by calling or go to irs. gov.
