You can certainly find some "mom and pop" food at Roxy's diner in Las Vegas, NV. It's located at the Stratosphere Hotel. Great diner and homemade food!

You should go to "Old Las Vegas" rather than the new strip. The older part of the city is a cab ride away from the strip and airport, but the restaurants are more authentically home town and will be a lot cheaper than anything you will find in the newer part of Vegas.

They can be found but you have to walk away from the strip and venture into the city. It is best to ask a local resident for their recommedation. If not, ask the concierge at your hotel or check the yellow pages. Also websites for food lovers that rate restaurants.

My husband and I got married there, and we ate almost exclusively at Mom and Pops. All you have to do is travel more than a block in either direction and start looking. We also found small restaurants that specialized in certain cuisines by searching on the Internet. The phone book works, too.

You can find many mom and pop restaurants just off the strip or more predominantly near the area with binions and the golden nugget. This downtown part of Vegas contains many older casinos and restaurants that were started back during the inception of Las Vegas. Any concierge will be able to assist you finding such restaurants.

For American try Jamm's Restaurant for breakfast or lunch. If you want something ethnic there is Rincon Criollo for Cuban and Baladie Cafe for Middle Eastern.

A good place to find a mom and pop restaurant in vegas is to ask the local residents. I would ask when paying for gas, or buying groceries, or possibly while taking a tour or going to a show. The locals would for sure have a favorite non- tourist place.
