Rubies and other precious gemstones are generally found in caves and mining excavations. Large deposits of natural rubies have been found in Tennessee, in an area called Ruby Falls (hence its name.)

Most of the world's rubies are found in Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Madagascar and Thailand. They can also be found in other areas; such as, Vietnam, Africa, Asia, Greenland, Australia and even the United States. Magook Valley in Upper Myanmar was the main source for rubies for quite some time.

Most rubies have been found in Asia. The countries of Thailand, Afghanistan, and Cambodia are good sources. Fore recently many have been found in Vietnam, Pakistan and even Tanzania and Madagascar. Recently rubies found in Africa - in Kenya, and also large ones were found in a shelf off Greenland.

Although rubies can be found in many countries, some even in the state of North Carolina in the United States, all the finest pigeon blood rubies come from the Mogok region of Burma, now called Myanmar.

For hundreds of years Burma was where the most rubies came from. However, rubies have also been found in large quantities in Thailand and Cambodia. Kenya also produces a huge amount of rubies.

Most rubies are found in all sorts of place such as Africa, Asia, Australia, and Greenland. They are also known to be found U.S. soil in the states of Montana and South Carolina.

I was born in July so my birthstone is Ruby. when i was born my mom and dad bought me a ring of a real Ruby. Now i'm 13 years old in 2012. n that ring does not fit me hahaha i guess my hand was small.
