The Paleolithic age begun roughly 2.6 mil years ago and ended about 10,000 years ago. It represents the early stone age (palaios meaning old and lithos meaning stone in greek language). This age is the beginning of humanity as we know it (homo sapiens): tools and weapons made from stone, bone and wood, art(cave drawings)and early types of religion

Paleolithic Age from c.2,000,000 to c.10,000BC referred to as the Old Stone Age. This time period was the longest and has three subdivisions: Lower Paleolithic from 2 million to 100,000BC. The Middle Paleolithic from 100,000BC to 30,000BC. Finally, the Upper Paleolithic from 30,000BC to 10,000BC. The importance of this age was first evidence of toolmaking.
