Question by  Tom (17)

When was the most recent recall of Triaminic?

I came across a new bottle of Triaminic I bought last year and don't know if I should toss it.

If Triaminic purchased last year, check expiration date. If expired, throw it away. Starting in 2000 e-mail circulated stating the hazards of PPA(phenylpropanolamine). The USFDA offered a warning on PPA. Companies voluntarily removed their OTC products (cold/flu remedies and appetite suppressants) with PPA and reformulated without PPA. No official recall.

The most recent recall of Triaminic was done on 2003. It was due to an content which was also found in a diet tablets. You should better toss it away.

Triaminic was recalled in 2003. The recall was related to an ingredient in the medicine that was also in diet pills.

If you bought it last year and it isn't expired then it is probably fine. The change of formulation was in 2003--anything that old is likely expired. But the factory that makes Triaminic is currently closed for remodeling (no recall) and it is very hard to find in stores now.
