Looks to me like Canton's primary claim to fame is First Monday Trade Days. This activity started during the Civil War and is now considered the world's largest flea market.
It was settled in 1850 but was not incorporated until 1919. The town is famous for its "First Monday Trade Days" which started as horse tarading day, but have expanded.
