Alway separate a pregnant hamster from the rest of the population. She will need a safe place to give birth without the danger of other curious hamsters eating her young. As the babies grow the mother will also need extra food. Once the young are weaned put separate the males and females into separate cages.

You shouldn't have to seperate from the rest of the hamsters unless you are beginning to see a problem. If the pregnant one or others are becoming aggressive, then it is time to move.

If you know she is pregnant, then it is already time to take her away from the rest of the group and provide her a safe, dry place to make a nest.
