It depends on the climate you live in if you have cold winters than you should wait till spring or warmer weather to plant. If you live in a warmer climate its best to plant in spring and fall as the hot summer weather will burn the plant before it is able to transition to being planted.

Shrubs are visual variety to a yard. Flowering shrubs add color to a landscape. They can be used to cover a foundation. Large shrubs can add privacy to a yard. They are expected on most properties and, as a result, increase the value of a property. Unlike bedding plants, they are very easy to maintain.

Fall is an excellent time to plant shrubs. You want to make sure your soil is fairly dry, and then water judiciously before the freeze.

Dormant shrubs that are bare root may be planted anytime the soil can be worked in your area. Potted shrubs do best planted in early spring. In milder areas, planting can be done in the fall so root growth can continue through the winter. Regardless of planting time, all trees and shrubs need adequate water during the main growing season.
