Harvest tomatoes from a topsy-turvy exactly the same way you would if they were grown in-ground. Wait till the tomato is completely red, or pick it when it's starting to show color (blushing) and let it ripen on the counter for a few days.

You can wait until they turn a nice red color. You can pick them just before they turn completely red and let them ripen on a window sill.

While the tomatoes will no longer increase in size, they do continue to ripen after picking. Pick and place in a sunny spot until they are the color you prefer.

It does not matter that they are in a difference container. The tomatos are ready for harvest once they are a ripe red.

For the best possible flavor tomatoes should not be harvested until they are fully ripe, which depending on the plant type could be deep red, orange or even yellow.

"depending on the plant type" - yes, that's definitely true. There are over 5,000 tomato varieties, and the colors can be red, orange, yelow, green, purple, pink, bi-color, or even ivory.  add a comment
