When making your own beer how long do you bleach it for?

I know that if you use the bleach for too long you will ruin the batch.

Most beer-making processes do not involve bleach. The mixture to be fermented is usually sterilized by boiling. It is important to make sure all containers are sterile.

I have been making beer with my family since early childhood and I am uncertain about when bleach would enter the procedure. I am guessing that you mean sterile technique, so be sure you clean completely and the remove all sterilising chemicals so that you don't kill the yeast that you add to ferment the beer.
