When do they select the Motortrend Car of the Year?

Car of the year is announced in November of each year. It is Motor Trend's editorial staff who choose the car by looking at the car's statistics and do a road test too. Once they have done all their tests and narrowed the list down they vote in a secret ballot to find the winner.

The Motor Trend Car of the Year award has been around since 1949. The cars must be completely new models or have received substantial changes from its previous generation. The cars are then subjected to tests and voted upon by Motor Trend's editors.

The Motortrend Car of the Year pole is taken in early January or at the end of every year in December. contrary to popular belief these poles are not open to the general public, and in most cases are voted by chairmen of boards that are related to car industry.
