The best prepaid phone depends on your usage. You can get phones fairly cheap at dollar stores and Walmart. It's best to review how much the cost is to buy more minutes and take into consideration how the text messaging works.

You can just get a Tracfone at Walmart for about $30. A prepaid card for 300 minutes airtime is another $30. You can pay with cash and be anonymous. This is plenty of time for me every month, but you did not give any of your specific needs.

Virgin Mobile is one of the best prepaid cell phone companies out there. For only sixty dollars a month you get unlimited everything. Unlimited talking, texting, and web. What's more to like you ask? Well that's simple. Not only is it sixty dollars a month for unlimited everything, there is no contract binding you to that.

If you have Tracfones available I have had success with them. The fees are not too much for both the phone and the minutes and you don't have to buy monthly cards in some areas. If Tracfone is not available, the other prepaid phone I used was T-Mobile. They have great support but the phones are more expensive.

If it's available in your area, I recommend Metro PCS. You can get unlimited voice and text for a fairly low price without any contracts, and payment can be made by phone, online, or in person. Another excellent prepaid cell phone with unlimited voice minutes and text messaging is Boost - Boost also comes with Push To Talk.

Metro PCS offers unlimited talk & text for $40 a month but doesnt always get the best service. Boost mobile offers unlimter talk, two way & text for $50 a month and it seems to have better coverage plus you get the convience of having Nextel direct connect service with out the nextel price.

The best prepaid cell phone for me should meet my needs. Mostly I am interested in web browser, alarms and other functions like calender, remainders etc. I like to use my cell phone as my office, as well.

Ask someone from your area which phones work the best. Some phones don't work in certain areas despite the fact that the store sells them anyhow.

The best prepaid phone service is TracFone. You do not have a contract, as such, but can continue service month by month and it is very simple to add the next month's service. You register a credit card with TracFone, they take the payment from your account as needed and the next month's service is automatically added

Their solution to any problem...we have to send you a new SIM card. When we reached #7 replaclement card...I was done. They don't tell you that they don't own their towers...they only rent them from AT&T and Verizon. If you encounter any problems....they are unable to resolve them.  add a comment

If you don't use your phone a lot, the best deal around is with Tracfone. Many of their phones include double minutes for life (if you buy 400 minutes, you get 800). Their per-minute pricing is pretty much ten cents per minute when purchased this way, and the 400 minute card comes with a year of service included.
