You need to make sure you have this service turned on via your phone provider. You also need to go into your phone and make sure you have those applications enabled. If it is someone else you are trying to track you should also note that you will need their permission.

Go to the menu of your cellphone, look for the GPS icon. Click on it and there should be a menu showing GPS data, Maps or Landmarks. Click on "maps" and the phone should be trying to track your location. Once it does, you should be able to see the surrounding area you are in.

While most cell phones do have the ability to be located this is primarily for emergency services to use. A few newer models of phones are capable of what you are asking however this is always provided as an additional service and thus fee.

Unfortunately, this is a service rarely offered to the consumer (with the exception of thrid party smart phone apps). The locators are primarily used to determine which cell tower would best serve the current location of the phone. This information is more likely to be given out during criminal investigations.

To use GPS on your mobile you can enable GPS by going to Settings > Security & Location in your mobile phone by selecting Enable GPS Satellites.It's also worth noting that GPS is not unless you are using the Maps application or another application that tries to acquire your location.

On most of the new "Smart Phones" GPS is a device that comes already programed in your phone. Usually the phone company requires you to have a data or internet plan of some sort. It is a great thing to have especially if you do alot of driving.

The GPS system helps you track your location. Once activated it can guide you whereever you want. It shows the accurate map as you proceed. So you can guide yourself accordingly. Is you want to know your current location, activate cell info display in phone settings and it gives you the idea of the location.

For Sony Ericssion mobile.First click the main menu and select the Messaging Icon.Then CLick the Following..Settings-->Area Info-->Cell Information.Enter that and Click it ON.
