There are many ways to tenderize beef. Many people use a meat mallet to pound beef in order to make it tender. Additionally, you can check the spice aisle at your local supermarket for a bottle of meat tenderizer, and follow the directions on the bottle. Mashed, unripe papaya is also used as a tenderizer in many ethnic dishes.

Most beef can be tenderized with a needle tenderizer. This devise causes the sinew in tougher cuts of meat to be cut and lets the meat relax. Also adding citrus to a marinade will often help. Lemon, Lime and Pineapple work well.

There are some commercially prepared tenderizers that can be used on beef. Some of these contain MSG and ascorbic acid. You can find them in the spice section of the supermartket. If you prefer, you can use pineapple, lemon, lime or orange juice.
