Good airsoft gun is a toy, that is best to be expensive but safe. If you are buying it for your son safety is at the first place. Gun should use soft plastic bullets, best are original by manufacture.

If you want to get a good airsoft gun you need to purchase one that is not the cheapest you can find. Get one with good quality.
