I have tried many different kinds and personally I am fond of chardonnay, but that is my favorite wine. Lately, I've been expirementing with different wines and I've found that a nice blush zinfandel makes for a nice sweet Sangria. My most recent discovery, and possibly my favorite, is to use the very cheap Arbor Mist Sangria or Blackberry wines.
