How do you make red wine vinegar?

Are there any ingredients other than red wine?

You can make red wine vinegar with only red wine, however this method relies on naturally occuring wild yeast to colonize the wine and transform it into vinegar and is hit or miss. Mixing the red wine with a "vinegar mother" which contains the needed yeast - acetobacter - will guarantee vinegar is made.

In addition to the vinegar, you need an 8 oz. bottle of commercial vinegar mother (bacteria that converts wine to vinegar) that you can purchase at a beer and wine shop or from the internet and a cup of water.
