The 19th century was a fertile era for invention; the world was introduced to steam locomotives, the light bulb, and electricity. The telephone, camera, and telegraph were also invented.

In 1837, John Deere invented the first cast steel farm plow. His steel plow allowed the mid-western farmers to plow the rich, black, sticky soil.
