In the 1770s the typical dress for Scottish men included a kilt of tartan plaid. More specifically in the 1700s the walking kilt became popular. it is different from the original clock-like kilt and more like the kilts we see today. Kilts were typically worn belted over a tunic-type garment.

Scottish men wore skirts called kilts. They also wore lieder hose or long socks that came just below the knee. They were, black pointed buckled shoes and a black hat with a buckle on it too. Some of them wore knickerbockers with tights underneath. Sometimes they wore a jacket if it was cold.
