What was the best 80s and 90s music?

In my opinion I really feel that in the 80's many love/ballad songs have been able to stand the test of time. The 90's was all about angst and indy.

If you are talking popular music, I guess Michael Jackson and his caliber would be right up there. They shaped what music(pop) would later become, like fast dance beats. I would say those that came later are not as good.
