Greece was the first democratic society in the world. All citizens were able to vote for representatation in their government. Women and men had equal power in government and it was successful during its golden age. But eventually, society became uncontrollable, and there was no stability in the government, so Greece fell.

Life in 16th century Greece was grim. Thanks to the conquest of the area by the Ottoman Turks centuries before, most Greeks lived an agricultural existence in which the Turks demanded loyalty and tribute in the form of crops and livestock. Life was worse if you refused to convert to Islam.
