Ecologists have the same career opportunities as other scientists -- research or academia. You may also specialize in one area, such as conservation, habitats, or wildlife population tracking.

If your degree in ecology is only at the bachelor's level, then I suggest continuing with school to at least a master's level in order for you to get a good job. Some people become teachers, conservationists, researchers, etc. If you want to enter academia, you will need a doctorate.

You can work for a county parks department, work in agriculture, a greenhouse, or in landscaping. If your degree is more advanced you can do research on plants and the changes caused by global warming.

Ecology degrees are useful if you want to go into an environmental or scientific career. You could work in zoos or wildlife preserves or engage in scientific study.
