Quite frankly, it's just as easy to get pregnant while brestfeeding as it is at any other time. However, many women do not ovulate on their regular cycles, or ovulation does not always lead to menstruation. Body temperature monitoring for ovulation is probably your best bet to determine your fertility.

Have you tried to stop breastfeeding so your periods will come back? When your cycles are regulated again, that's when I would try to get pregnant.

Breastfeeding slows the on set of your first menstrual cycle after pregnancy, but only for a time, once your baby is feeding less frequently (every 4 hours or less) you are likely to start your cycle again.

Breastfeeding often delays ovulation, which is why it's (sometimes!) thought to be a good form of contraception. If you're breastfeeding and trying for a baby then a good sign of your fertility is whether your periods have returned. Some people's do, some don't. If you have no periods you're probably not ovulating, so you may have to stop breastfeeding.
