Remember that kittens are curious and full of energy. They love to climb, run, jump, scratch, and claw everything they see! As cats get older they usually form a bond with one specific person, but they are very independent creatures. They need grooming, nail care, hairball care, specific diets, and do not like huge changes in their house hold.

Look for a kitten that appears healthy and curious. Eyes or nose discharge, coughing and sneezing, missing patches of hair, big swollen belly... etc, are all signs of health problems that you should avoid. Please visit your local animal shelter for your new pet and save a life!

They need attention when they are kittens because you have to train them to use a litterbox. Also you might want to read about breeds a little bit if you want a certain kind because some are more needy and kind of mean then others.

Look for an alert, playful kitten that is interacting with the other cats. Examine the kitten for sores or bugs around the ears, eyes and anus. If you can obserive the kitten eating and drinking that is always a good sign as well.
