I would reccommend getting back to basics for a fund-raiser. The economy is not doing well, and people are more likely to spend their hard earned money on things like food or handmade items. Selling candy and baked goods are excellent options, as is holding a craft sale.

Having a fete can be fun and raise money with stalls and games. A evening where you put food and drink on but have an entrance fee, getting some friends to help. A fun run is quite good where the runner is sponsored this is another way to raise funds.
