The sounds you hear in the monsoon are going to vary depending on your location. Primarily, you will hear wind and water. The wind may include rustling of plants and trees if you are in a jungle area and the water will include rain and running water. In urban areas the rustling will be replaced by wind whistling around buildings.

In a monsoon, the most obvious sound will be the heavy wind as it passes through and possibly destroys buildings and homes. In addition, the sound of rain and moving water will be prominent.

The heavy staccato pattering of raindrops on the roof. A strong wind whistling. The roar of water coursing downhill. Muted mutterings of all the people indoors.

Monsoons have been described as having a rumbling sound early in the phenominon, later when it is well under way you will hear clashing and swirling, you will hear waves but not like a day at the beach but more of and engulfing sound. It can be quite startling ive lived through many of them.

A Monsoon generates sounds which combine the dull whine of a large airplane engine with the high pitch whirl of a hair dryer.

I would expect to hear the sounds of wind and rain. If living by the coast, I would expect the sound of exploding surf. Monsoons bring very heavy rain so the sounds of flooding and rushing water would also be expected.

You would expect to hear wind blowing and rain during a monsoon. Don't be surprised to hear trees falling down or large crashes.

This is what you would hear in a monsoon, it would be quiet before maybe a little wind and then there would be a crashing sound of water, and hurricane force winds.
