Question by  Deedle (30)

What sort of blood work do they take from felines?

This is just for a routine vet visit.

Common pet blood-work consists of a complete blood count or CBC, for immune system deficiencies. The second is a blood chemistry for testing organ functions. Your veterinarian always knows best.

Blood work is done for routine visits to make sure all the blood levels are within normal ranges, such as red and white blood cell counts, liver and kidney functions are normal, etc.

For a routine vet visit I have never seen a vet take blood work, and I have had cats my whole life. My current cats are fourteen and six months. I just took the kitten in three weeks ago, and they did not take any blood work. I was in the room the whole time.

It's largely the same as done for humans. They check the cat for abnormal sugar or vitamin levels, maybe run basic tox screens and look for some of the more common diseases.
