Question by  Shirota (30)

What does it mean if I have low rbs and low wbc blood counts?

I have just received blood work results from my doctor and was given no explanation as to what it means.

Low RBS means you aren't producing enough red blood cells, which often indicates anemia or iron deficiency. Low WBC means you aren't producing enough white blood cells, which is a sign of immunodeficiency. You need to call these results to your doctor's attention immediately; you may have a serious infection.

Well, it means that you don't have enough red blood cells to generate oxygen. To increase this, consider taking iron and B12 supplements everyday. This will increase energy as well.

This usually indicates an infection, or a bout of anemia. Go back to your doctor and get on antibiotics and a daily multivitamin.

It normally means you do not have enough red blood cells to generate oxygen. It can be caused by something like a virus or something more serious such as cancer.

low rbc means you may be suffering from anemia but take note there are lot kinds of anemia and low wbc means there is a presence of infection that your immunity can't provide to treat that infection

It means that you have 2 of your 3 blood cell line low and you need to be investigated to the cause which can be nutrition or primary bone marrow.

I'm not familiar with the abbreviation RBS, but I assume it is your doctor's abbreviation for RBC or red blood cell count just like WBC is white blood cell count. Generally speaking, a low RBC means you have some form of anemia and a low WBC means you are more prone to infections because your immune system is suppressed.

You need to follow up with your doctor. A low red blood cell count often is the result of anemia, or an iron deficiency but can be cause by other illness as well. A low white blood cell count can be caused by an infection or immunodeficiency. I would see your doctor as soon as possible
