The most important thing to know is that you are committing to care for an animal for the rest of its life, typically from ten to fifteen years.

First of all, research the breed you want to get. Many people get a puppy cause it is cute then realize the breed requires too much care for their tastes. Secondly, make sure your home and family are ready for a puppy, puppies take a lot of love, care, training, and attention - make sure you're prepared for it.

Exactly what you need to properly feed grrom and take care of it. The best place to get the information you are looking for is to call the vets office they may even have a pamphlet or two that you can get that will tell you exactly.

Before you buy a puppy you should talk to a vet to estimate the cost of shots. Then you should price dogfood and see if you can afford it.

Be prepared! Puppies are loud, ruthless, stubborn, and stupid. They chew stuff up, get into trash, chase the cat, run away, and the list goes on. But keep in mind that with strict and consistent (but also loving) training, you will end up with a great dog who will be loyal, sweet, and well behaved. It's a worthwhile struggle, usually.

Definitly research all dog breeds that you are interested in before buying a puppy, as different breeds have different personalities that may or may not match yours. Make sure you have the time and financial ability to be a reliable pet owner.
