What should I know before buying a used laptop?

Check whether all keys and/or buttons are working; make sure it boots normally without any hanging or lockups for at least 5 attempts, if it does, don't buy! For Virus, Click Start, Run... type "msconfig", click startup tab. Check CD/DVD ROM, USB, RJ-45 port, Touch pad & Track ball if there are working and not conflicting

You should mostly look at its specifications and last but not least its price. All new laptops are virus free (some of them don't even have an operating system. If you are thinking to buy a used laptop you should first format the hard drive (and all its partitions) and than start fresh.
