I work in a vet clinic in a rural area of Louisiana. Goats should be brought in for yearly tetanus and extrotoxemia vaccines. Get your goat treated regularly for internal parasites/worms. They should also get their hooves trimmed about once a month which is fairly simple and easy too.

Goat grain should be kept in a container with a good seal to keep rats out, water buckets should be cleaned and filled with fresh water daily, Goats like alfalfa, clover and different mixes. Feed bags will have instructions that tell you about baking soda and powdered minerals they need.

Ya'll shoulda mentioned that fresh grasses and hay can cause a goat to bloat. Kinda need to avoid anything moldy too. they like timothy grass also.  add a comment

Wow they require quite a bit. I found out the hard way that it is best to have more than one goat cos the single ones get lonely and then get really loud from calling out for companionship. Watch your behind... they like to head butt everyone including my visitors.

Make sure they are enclosed in a fenced area and make sure the fence is STURDY! Build some kind a shelter for them like a tiny barn or place with a roof. Give them a large water trough and make sure it is always full. Goats respond well to interaction so make sure you communicate and play with them.
