Donkey tail plants can be put in some direct sun light but should be keep shaded in the summer time. You should avoid putting the plant in areas with high winds to avoid losing the leaves. It also needs to be lightly watered but not so much in the fall and winter. You can grow this plant indoors in a hanging basket.

This Mexican native is a member of the cactus family. Mix potting soil with sand and provide a good drainage system. Allow drying out between waterings. Fertilize once during the March thru October growing season. Keep out of outside direct sunlight, although outside is helpful in eliminating leaf drop.

Donkey tail plants require full sun and is only hardy to about 38 degrees fahrenheit (it likes warmth). Donkey tail is prone to root rot so be careful not to overwater (once a week during growing season). Let the top soil dry between each watering.

A good potting soil with a little sand added to it, a good drainage system, and lots of warm sunshine will keep this plant happy! Water thoroughly once a week during the growing season(March- October), letting it dry between waterings. Fertilize once during the growing season.

They need bright light and low watering. After watering, do not water again until the soil dries out. Do not plant outside unless in a temperate climate with no freezing.
