Taking high doses of naicin can lead to surging rashing - a sensation of intense heat and flushed appearance of the skin. This is also known as a 'niacin flush'. Though uncomfortable, this effect is harmless and does not last very long - usually about 20 to 30 minutes or less.

Niacin has the nasty side effect of a flushing, heat flash reaction. Not everyone experiences it, but the higher the dosage, the more likely you will have them. Some find relief with taking an aspirin 30 min before your niacin. Consult with doctor first if you are not taking aspirin.

People who take Niacin commonly experience a symptom known as the Niacin flush. Often the face turns bright red. This may last for 30-60 minutes. It is harmless and will go away on its own.

niacin is the other name for vitamin b4 or as some authors believe vitamin b5. Its deficiency can lead to rashing.
