Law offices trying to collect have no more legal power or authority than any other collector, but they hope that they mention of "attorney" will make you believe they do.

Credit card collections performed by law offices will employ more "scare" or "threat" tactics. They can threaten to sue you if you don't pay up. And they probably will too.

They are no different that collection efforts by other agencies. They are still subjected to the laws of the state and federal law. They cannot harrass you or contact you at work if you asked them not to. You can also request to have all correspondence done my mail only.
