Abnormal ENG indicates vestibular disorders. Otosclerosis is the abnormal growth of bone, near the middle ear which results in hearing loss. It begins in one ear, eventually affecting both ears.

An abnormal ENG could be caused by having otoschlerosis. The symptoms of otosclerosis are dizziness, ringing in the ears and being off balance. The next test that could be prescribed could be an MRI.

Otosclerosis is an abnormal growth of bone near the middle ear which results in hearing loss. It usually begins in one ear, but eventually affects the other ear too. Hearing aids and stapedectomy are the treatments. Hearing aids are effective in early stage but stapedectomy is required for complete cure.
