A tooth is extracted only when there is a minimum chance of conserving it. Precautions should be taken if the patient is suffering from hypertension,diabetes etc. Canker sore also known as Aphthous ulcer is a painful single or multiple ulcerations in the oral mucosa.

You should not be smoking or drinking out of a straw because that can cause a dry socket. The canker sore is probably from infection.
