Monitor by keeping a log at frequent intervals. You should take the readings as frequently as every hour. Do not take any medication to mask the fever. Call a doctor and report the entries in your fever log to the doctor and then follow the instructions exactly and without any error.

Keep the child comfortably cool. Give them plenty of liquids and don't deprive them of food if they feel up to eating it. You can ease their discomfort and reduce their fever with a fever reducer such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Monitor their fever, and if it gets above 103f or lasts longer then three days, call your doctor.

First try the recommended dose of childrens tylenol. If it persists or worsens within 24-48 hours, consult your family doctor or visit the ER room as soon as possible.

Anytime a small child has a temperature you should consult with your doctor. He will advise you as to the proper dosage of Motrin or Tylenole to reduce the fever.
