I have a 13 yr old who suffered through chronic constipation for 8 yrs. , and now his baby brother is doing the same...Give plenty of water & pear juice...Also, do NOT use infant rice ceral, try oatmeal, & in small doses... Baby prunes, pears, & peaches.. Remember that constipation is not defined by infrequent stools, but by hard, pebbly~type, infrequent stools.. Some pediatricians blithely ignore it, so seek a gastroenterologist (digestive specialist) if it continues and/or worsens!! I did, and it made ALL the difference.. Good luck !!

Infant constipation is common but not problematic unless it is over a week. This can be uncomfortable and a simple, safe solution is to give the child pear juice. It can be half pear juice half water and usually no more than 2 ounces at a time.

I've found that you can relieve infant constipation by putting sugar, or honey, anything that is sweet and not harmful in a bottle of water. Sugar loosens the intestines which makes the contents of the bowel less solid. I have a 8 month old and this does work.

Make sure the baby is getting enough fluids and take him or her to the doctor, constipation could be caused by many things. He will probably give a suppository.
