You have to be open-minded and enjoy other cultures, also speak several languages. Familiarize yourself with what other cultures have to offer and what the highlights are for visiting another country. Then try to match that with what the customer wants. So have a good basic knowledge and ask questions to find out what the customer wants first.

You have to be good at selling and persuasive. You have to be friendly and keep in mind that the customer is always right, even when they really aren't. And just a genuine liking of people and travel.

You should have some sales background, and preferably in the travel and tourism industry (or even hospitality or hotel industry). In addition, the ability and experience dealing with customer service.
