Moonshine is not a particular drink like rum for example, Moonshine is a term for home distilled alcohol. The emphasis being that it is made by an amateur using whatever they can find. It can range from 0% proof to 100% ethanol depending on the experience of the distiller.

Yes moonshine does have a very high proof. This is actually one reason moonshine is illigal, because the amount of alcohol in it is dangerously high. The only sort of alcohol that moonshine compares to would be Everclear, which sometimes has a proof around 180 or 160 if i'm correct. Moonshine really hides the alcohol taste though.

moonshine varies depending on how it is made. it can range from 90 to 110 proof. But it is made out of different corn and it tastes different. The flavor is stronger and can change with the fruits that you put in it.
