Some law firms engage in debt collection. While it sounds more serious, it's no different than any other debt collection. Payments, settlement and bankkruptcy are all options.

All collectors are backed up by attorneys, so don't be alarmed by the "law firm" claim. You are likely speaking to a commissioned collector, who will demand payment in full. State what you are able to do in terms of a monthly payment, and/or ask about a settlement.

A collection "law firm" is no different than any other collector. Arrangements depend on the size and age of the debt and how much of it is interest. Collectors are commissioned and are hardcore about getting cash now. If you can't work anything out, ask to speak to a supervisor.

Credit cards are an unsecured debt they can't take your property. However you still owe so call and tell them what you can reasonably pay and do so each month.

Your question is not clear. If you wish to make negotiations for debt there are many agencies that will assist you. Call California State Attorney General's Office for a list.

If you feel the law firm is playing hardball and won't negogiate with you, call the credit card company and ask them to recall your file. Then make your own arrangment with them. I know this because I work for a credit card company

Collection efforts by a law firm are no different than any other collection efforts. If it isn't possible to negotiate a settlement, look into bankruptcy. Otherwise, wages, tax returns and property will be attached.
