Albenza (Albendazole) is the most common medication for pinworms and can be given to both children and adults in different doses. A single tablet will kill the worms, though another tablet two weeks later to kill the eggs is usually recommended. Vermox works in a similar way.

A single 100 milligram dose of mebendazole with repetition in 1 week will cure the illness. There is no side effects generally for this medication but abdominal pain and diarrhea have been reported in some cases. Pyrantel pamoate and piperazine are also very effective.
