Try different ribbons and string ties from craft stores to use as holdbacks for curtains. You can change the style any time you change the ribbon for a very inexpensive cost.
There are many options. Use your imagination and choose a pretty, classic or outlandish fabric and make the holdbacks. Knit or crochet beautiful holdbacks.
You should take the time to decided how vibrant you would like these holdbacks to be. I personally prefer ones that stand alone fabric that don't require a wall attachement.
I found some colored potato chip clips that make great curtain holdbacks. You can get these at Wal-Mart. They come in a variety of colors and work well.
