I have always used a water pistol to train new cats what is and isn't acceptable. They detest it, but it does them no harm at all.

Provide lots of distraction such as a cat tree, toys and scratching posts nearby so your kitten can play on to relief his energy. Try spraying citrus scent air/fabric freshener on the curtain itself. Use a spray bottle (water) on the kitty when he's climbing if all else fails.

Get a spray bottle with some water in it. Every time the kittens get on the curtains, spray them. I also have another method for keeping cat off certain things. Cats hate lemon, and lemon scented things. Spray lemon scent on places you don't want the cats. This might work on the curtains.

Unfortunately, nothing can be done about a kittens' natural inclination to scratch/climb and curtains provide a perfect place to try out their new, sharp claws. I recommend you buy a scratching post to direct your kitten to when she/he starts scratching. Failing that a quick spray with water will discourage your kitten when you catch him/her in the act!

Get one of those big scrach towers see if that will will distract them. You can also try using a spary bottle with water. Cats don't like water so they will hopefully learn not to climb. If this doesnt work maybe try askikng the vet for ideas.

Fill a spray bottle with water, and spray a light mist on the kittens every time they begin climbing on your curtains. They will not like this, but it is not a cruel way of punishing their behavior. Eventually, they will associate being sprayed with water with climbing on the curtains, and they will stop.

There is a spray that makes items slightly sticky (temporary); there are also pads to put down to keep them away.
